Hello and welcome to this latest newsletter, keeping you up to date with events here at Abbey Sports & Leisure. As usual, if you have anything you’d like to discuss with me personally then please either call me at the club or email me at andy@abbeysports.co.uk.
May was a busy month socially at the club. On the Bank Holiday Sunday we had a Freddie Mercury tribute night, in aid of LOROS. We raised £2000 and had a fabulous night! We will have another Charity night (in aid of Breast Cancer Research) on the August Bank Holiday Sunday, with a Robbie Williams tribute. Details will be around the club shortly.
May 17th saw our Members Party, which was a great night as usual. A great tribute to Elton John was also joined on stage by George Michael, at short notice! Thanks to everyone who made it such a good night, photos are available now on the Events page.

As I write we are getting ready for Soul Night this Friday. The next Soul Night is on August 22nd, tickets will be at reception soon!
Even though England didn’t qualify, we’ll still be showing all of Euro 2008 in the lounge at the club with various promotions throughout the summer. Every Tuesday and Wednesday you can get two meals and a bottle of wine for £15.

Have you ever considered using a Life Coach? I know I have! David Hornsby is a Life Coach and will be doing a series of sessions called ‘Think Yourself Thin’ (Sounds easy eh?!). The first session is on Monday June 16th at 6.30pm and it will continue on the following three Mondays. The cost for the entire course is only £20 and places can be paid for and reserved at reception. For more information call David on 0116 3321201
We are looking to start Tai Chi and Karate classes in July. Both will run for an initial period of 8 weeks, with a view to continuing beyond this.
The Karate will begin on Friday July 11th at 7.15pm and run at that time for 8 weeks. The Tai Chi will begin on Wednesday July 9th at 12.30pm and, again, continue for 8 weeks.
Bookings for both of these can be made at reception and will be £20 per course.

Internal squash leagues will be reintroduced this month. If you fancy competing against players of a similar standard – whatever that may be – then leave your details on the squash board at the top of the stairs. The standard ranges from County Championship finalist (well done James Hodgson!) to those who have only just started playing!
As well as having a crèche 6 mornings a week we will also be running a Kids Club through the summer holidays. This is run for children from 6 years to 12 years and will involve arts, crafts and exercise. We anticipate this will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; look out for more details around the club nearer the time.
In our continuing efforts to improve the club we have new dumbbells on order and shortly will replace the gym carpet. The studio will also benefit from additional air conditioning as we get set for 3 months of scorching weather (I can dream!). If you have any other ideas as to how we can improve then please make use of the suggestion box located at reception. Please leave a name and number and I’ll contact you to discuss your ideas.

Harley’s Hair Salon are running a series of promotions during June and July:
- £10 off Matrix Highlights with a Cut & Blow Dry
- £5 off Conditioning Treatment & Blow Dry (with Jessica)
When booking please quote ‘Summer Offer’ to receive your discount!

Finally a reminder that Saturday June 28th is the night of our Summer Ball. Tickets are now available at reception for the evening which includes a Hog Roast, live entertainment and much more. The evening will be in aid of LOROS and tickets are sure to sell fast!!

If you have anything you’d like to talk about regarding any of the above or anything else, please feel free to email me directly at andy@abbeysports.co.uk. Thank you for your continued company,
Warm Regards
Andy
